what is the best fitness equipment that would help an overweight lady in her 40s to get thinner....and fast?

i want to get something for my mom. i thought the treadmeal was the best but my other sister said it would make pains for her on the knees and would be difficult. is there anything that would help her lose weight on her stomach precisely?

  1. Maybe an elliptical machine. It would hurt her knees less.
  2. i recommend water aerobics. if you have a pool get her water jog which you can purchase at academy. water supports all joints and burns more calories
  3. Elliptical is definitely easier on the knees than treadmill. I find that a recumbent bike is even better. You sit on the bicycle seat and reach your legs out in front of you to push the pedals. It gives a good cardio workout, and burns lots of calories. If she wants even better calorie loss, she can hold small weights in her hands (or strap them to her wrists) and do coordinated arm movemnts while she pedals. Tip: if she sets up a small fan nearby, she'll be cooler and possibly exercise longer. Unfortunately, there's no way to spot-reduce. Some exercises will bulk up particular areas... like thighs, butt, and upper arms -- but you can't target your fat loss. I wish I could!!
