So I need to switch up my work out...?
I have been focusing on weights at the gym and try to run when I get home from work but I never have the motivation then. I want to try and optimize my time at the gym so would like some help here. I go during my lunch hour at work (we have a fitness center at my work). I can squeeze in about 40 minutes of exercise. What is the best thing I can do in that 40 minutes to loose weight? We have all the standard gym equipment.
Thanks!

- You could walk a mile on the treadmile at 3 mph....takes 21 minutes...then do some sit ups, side twists, etc., the rest of the time.
- well lifting weights wont make you lose weight. but you will lose fat but gain muscle. if you want a ton of muscle go ahaead witht he weigt but if you just want to tone then use a small amount of weight with lots of repetition. the best thing to lose weight those is to do crunches butt work outs running and lunges and many more. run in the morning. i wake up in the morning and do work outs. exercising actually releases a chemical in your body that makes you feel good. no joke. i promise. when you do it in the morning it gets your blood flowing and your brain gets more oxygen so your more focused. plus it makes you feel proud because you did your workout so you start your day out right.
- You can either do both: A.) Do weights first then cardio B.) Warm up with cardio, weights, cool down with cardio Or I suggest you space out your week, you should not be training the same body part every day. An example would be Mon. (Chest/Bi's) Tues (cardio) Wed (Legs, abs) (Thurs: SHoulders/back) Friday (cardio) weekends is free time. I great technique to lose fat is by doing HIIT (High intensity interval training) you do it 10- 15 minutes max an example would be: 1:00-2:00 mins - walk 2-4 min: jog 4-5: sprint 5-6: jog 6-7:walk and so on... I hope this helps if you have any more questions u can email me any time
- Yea you should, its necessary to change up your routine because our muscles can memorize when we stick to the same routines it wont take long until our muscles program the routine and no longer take the work-out in affect. I just learned this myself and every week I like to switch it up when I do my work-out.
- Well, I believe if you just do leg lifts this is most effective to your lower ab's if you have a high gut you should just walk it off if you have a lower gut do the lifts. After having kids I have learned this out.
- The best way to burn calories would be to get the heart pumping - treadmill or cross-traininer or stairs. This boosts your metabolism too. When I started to go to the gym every day the difference was most noticible. Have you considered going before work? It's a great way to start your body ticking and then you can reward yourself with a decent lunch break rather than a mid-day work-out. You will find if it's a daily activity that you need less sleep and improve rapidly.
