What home fitness equipment offers the best results? I want to purchase a single piece of workout equipment that offers aerobic activity but will also tone muscle. I want to burn fat and calories and tone my muscles without bulking up. I have been running on a treadmill in our apartment complex gym, and love the results. But I was wondering if something like an elliptical machine would offer the same results or better without the wear and tear on my body caused by running?

On home fitness equipment, does the "Calories Burned" counter show exaggerated numbers for marketing purposes? A friend told me that the "Calories Burned" indicators show inflated numbers, with no basis in reality, because the manufacturer wants the consumer to think that particular machine is helping them burn lots of calories. Is this true, or a conspiracy theory?
Does and one know where i can hire or buy home fitness equipment in yorkshire? im looking to get fit buy not sure what to use or if buying is the right option as i dont want to buy something then not use it? any help would be great
Where can I get this piece of home fitness equipment?`? Many years ago - many, many years ago - there was this home fitness thing that was basically a spring inside of a telescoping rod, with handles on both ends (so it could be pushed shut against resistance), and it had cables between the handles (so when you pulled the cables apart, the telescoping rod pushed in on itself, again providing resistance). You could, for example, hold it like a bow-and-arrow, and pull on the cables for resistance. Like this: /~~~~~~\ (------====) \~~~~~~/ Bad representation. I don't even remember what it was called, but it was very useful. Does anyone know what it is called, adn if they are sold anyhmore? I cannot even look on eBay, since I don't know what it's called (and "fitness thing" doesn't seem to work well.)

Need recommendations for fitness equipment: yoga, pilates, stretching? I want to install a small home gym in a 9.5 x 11.5 room (8' ceiling) on my second floor. I was thinking of installing a ballet bar or parallel bars and buying a new or used Total Gym (for pilates). What do you all think? Anyone have experience with Total Gym? Any recommendations on an alternative piece of equipment?
Full body workout at home with no equipment...? My friend wants to 'beef up' a bit and is looking for a workout that does his whole body. I would prefer if you had a link to any website which fits the question. Thanks
Can I rent fitness equipment? I want to get a stationary bike but I am like most people in that I don't want to make a huge investment in something that might just be a clothing hangar in a few years (granted a bike may only be a couple of hundred dollars but that's still out of my budget right now). Is it possible to rent a stationary bike or other equipment for my home for a period of time?

Serious answers only please! Home gym equipment? My husband needs to build muscle, and I just want to stay toned and on my weightloss program. Husband sits on the couch, and I was going to a gym (contours express) but they closed this weekend with no warning to any of the members. We got a letter in the mail today. My question is....given our fitness goals, what do you recommend as far as home gym equipment? Bowflex? Total Gym? Other?
What fitness equipment and plan would you recommend for this situation? Hi, I'm a Uni student with a plan to spend at least 30mins a day on a home exercise programme (can't afford the gym). I'd like to slim down, build up my upper body muscles and trim/tone my stomach (I'm short 5' 5" if that's relevant); practically full body really. I used to ride a bike extensively for 2 years which built up my legs but its no longer convenient in the city. Ideally I'm looking for fairly inexpensive (<£100 total) equipment and a plan that will help me achieve this. So far I own a set of 15kg dumbells. Any advice including diet would be great, thanks.
Best brand of fitness equipment...? I'm looking to set up a home gym in my basement, but I have no idea what the best brands are. I'm thinking about getting a universal set, plus a treadmill. I've seen lots of "Weider" home gyms on craigslist but one of my friends at the gym told me to avoid that brand at all costs. He did recommend "Bowflex". Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

I would ideally like to combine strength training and cardio and use no or minimal equipment. Also since I'm not running much anymore I'd prefer to build some bulk rather than stay lean like I usually am. Tall order I know but any routine suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Cheers

What are ways i can physically test myself at home? Just fitness stuff, where i dont really have to have equipment (dumbells, weights, treadmill....) er, first answerer, what , out of "physically test myself" do you get, not excercising???
Upper body workout using only 5kg weights? Hey, I'm 18 years old and looking at building my body up. I have been going regularly to the gym twice a week for 4 months now and being doing odd exercises at home but nothing too organized. Unfortunately I do not have any exercise equipment at home apart from a rowing machine and 5kg weights. Can anyone recommend a structured home fitness regime that i can follow in between gym times. I usually attend the gym on Wednesdays and Saturdays so can anyone recommend best days in between to exercise and what are the best exercises to perform (concentrating on upper body) with the 5kg weights I have. If you have a regime that works for you please can you share, I would really appreciate it! Thanks for any help in advance, Andy
What are some excerises that I can do at home? I don't have much equipment, but I have started to run a few miles a day and I have two 15 pound dumbbells and a fitness ball. Fitness Rental in Chicago area? I need to rent fitness equipment, preferably a treadmill. I always have urges to work out but it's always in the middle of the night when the gyms are closed and don't feel like getting dressed and driving to a gym that's open. Where can I rent a treadmill in the area? Yes, I know jump roping is good exercise and I can do it at home, but i just don't enjoy it as much!
Octane Fitness Elliptical? I'm looking for an elliptical machine to purchase for my home and went to the gym with my boyfriend, which is a different gym from the one I use, and they had Octane Ellipticals. I really liked the way it felt, and I felt as though it gave me a good workout. So, I was wondering if anyone had ever used this brand of fitness equipment, if they recommend it, and if not what are some other good brands of Elliptical machines? Thanks :)
Fitness and Diet question? I'm 16 years old (boy) and I want to spend some time working on making some muscles and a nice body. I wanted to ask what would be some exercises I can do at home, equipment I can buy (weights etc) and what I should eat? I'm looking mainly for building the muscles on my arms, chest, and abdomen. Also, I'm hearing that there is a limit in the weights I should lift for my age. Having had tae-kwon-do classes until last year I am in a pretty good shape, but I lost my elasticity and strength, and want to rebuild it. Notice that proposing that I should take things like proteins or other supplements without the traditional way of eating them, will just result in a thumbs down.

Help finding a great home gym??? I saw a fantastic gym online yesterday and now can't find it anywhere lol. Anyway, does anyone know of any others that can match this, it was 299 quid reduced from 499: Bench did incline/decline/flat Squat Rack Pec Deck Lat Pulldown High/Low Pulleys Bench was detatchable from the multi gym I can't remember the make, think it was Marcy or possibly Proform but not sure. It was from 'the biggest fitness equipment showroom in the uk' which is based in Doncaster if that rings any bells with anyone, it was an ex-showroom model reduced to clear. Dead frustrating! Anyway, if nobody knows what this showroom is called, does anyone know of any other great deals like this out there?
Any ideas concerning a baby's room in a 3BR home (details below)? At what age do you think we should move him? We have 3 bedrooms, one is the main bedroom (ours), the second is used as our study/office (with computers etc, and a playpen), and the third is supposed to be an extra bedroom for guests, etc, but has now become a store room (let's see, there's the swing, bouncer, pram, a cupboard full of baby supplies, fitness equipment, a keyboard, and some other junks) as we have no other place to stuff these things. Right now, the baby is 10 month old and has a crib in our bedroom where he naps. We're thinking about transferring the 3rd bedroom (the current store room) into his own bedroom some time after his first birthday (and that would mean we have to get rid of some of the junks). Any idea what to put in his room? (and where to put the junks... lol)
I need a good and healthy work-out schedule? FOR FITNESS EXPERTS ONLY! ======================== Hi, I'm a 16 year old boy, currently weighing 126 lbs, and am 5'6 of height. I know that I'm small for my age, and I need a good exercise routine to help build myself up. Please do not give me a site, cause I don't think they help much. Also I'll tell you the current equipment I have in my "home gym". Equipment -------------- 1. 180 lbs boxing bag 2. Over 250 lbs of dumbbells (5's , 10's) 3. A bar 4. Big medicine ball 5. I'm a pretty good runner ---------- Alright, so with that being said, you know know a little more about me. What I'm really asking you is to give a good and helathy work out schedule based on my age, weight, height and the equipment I have. Also tell the reps and sets pease. I WOULD REALLY REALLY APPRECIATE IT IF YOU CAN HELP ME OUT. Thanks =)
If you saw your neighbor jumping rope in the laundry room around 5 a.m. in the morning, what would you think? I can't afford a gym membership or fitness equipment right now. I also live above an elderly woman, who is very noise conscious, so exercise tapes for cardio is out of the question. Thus, I plan to jump rump for my cardio each morning, and train with free weights at home. Winter is coming, so I can't jump outside, nor would I want to be that visible anyway. So I'm planning to jump rope in the building laundry room early in the morning before most people wake up. The floor is concrete, and it's very large, spacious, and well lit. I'm sure someone may walk in on me at least once before the year is over, though it's unlikely at the crack of dawn(around 5 a.m.). What would you think if you found out your ADULT neighbor was jumping rope in the laundry room before the birds woke up? LOL There are also windows and a waiting area in the laundry room, so it's not isolated and dark like most basement laundry areas. I'm also carrying extra weight, so I'm sure it will be a sight to see. :)
Im thinking about house sharing - good or bad idea? I cant afford to buy my own home. I'm renting a beautiful house at the moment. It really bugs me that I am paying someone else's mortgage though. I am single and the cost of living alone is very high. I am gonna be a police officer soon (if I pass my exams in 4 weeks!). Due to hours I work I am hardly ever home to enjoy what I am paying for. I also have alot of debt - I got injured during police training and had to borrow £6K to pay for surgery and get myself fixed so I could get back to work. Anyway I am considering sharing a house with other professionals. I have so much stuff in my own house at the minute - furniture and things which cost me alot and I really like it but to sell it second hand I would not get alot. I have no where to keep everything and I dont know what to do with it. I have loads of fitness equipment too from my injury rehabilitation. If I did share a house I'd probably have to give most things away to charity
Wondering what type of weight-training equipment to buy? I am serious about starting weight-training, into my fitness plan. I want one for home use. First, I considered getting a basic, weight-bench for this, but I am not so sure, now . .if this will do. My goal is to weight-train for building strength, but slightly building lean, toned muscles . . . not for big, bulging muscles. I am a petite, but healthy-weight woman, who is aiming for lean, feminine look, but strong build. So, based on this info that I have given, which type will be more suitable, and effective to achieve this? A weight-bench for bench pressing free-weights OR a weight-train machine that has weight-blocks on it with pulleys? Or both? I am not an expert on this, so I am kindly asking: Do YOU have an answer that may help me with this decision? All answers will be appreciated! Angela
i'm looking for some home exercise equipments, or a place i can get advices for home fitness.? Any body know where i can buy best exercise equipments? it should not be so expensive :) -- . i also want to know a place i can get advices about Home fitness.

I would like to continue doing what Im doing at the same time. So is there anyway to get into this business without going head first and starting full time with a company like sears. Can getting a NASTeC certification lead to any work or is there more to it than that?
Is it cheaper to buy an all in 1 home gym or get the bits seperately? Is it better to buy one big piece of equipment like this: http://www.fitness-superstore.co.uk/__12_product_info3_asp2_5_prdID4_34167_prdName39_Studio%205%20Gym%20%28200lbs%20Stack%295.html or buy seperate pieces??????????
Need help with health & fitness.? I have a hypothyroid so have gained 20 pounds and need to loose it. The problem is when exercising after 10 minutes I get very itchy and then welts appear. This happens within 10 minutes of strenuous exercise. What do you recommed for exercise? Also should I join a gym or get a recumbant bike or exercise equipment for home? Thank you all for your answers! I went to the doctor and I have to premedicate with Clariton prior to exercising. I have exercise-induced anaphylaxis. I didn't choose a best answer because they were all great!
I want a body like a high-school Football player!!! How do i get it? I'm 19 yrs old, I work days and just started doing push-up's sit-up's, and up and down at home. I don't any access to a gym or a fitness center, nor do i have the time. My body is shaped like a forty-yr old man from the lack of previous exercise. I recently gave up junk and fast food. Instead of not eating at all, I have limited my meal to smaller portions. Trust me I'm to young to be looking like this, I need something that i can do right at home with little or no extra equipment.
Are there any truly free exercise websites? Does anyone know of any websites where you can get a fitness workout that won't cost anything to join? In particular, I'm looking for a website that will list exercises (low impact) that you can do at home with no special equipment.
What are the best excersises a woman can do to sculpt her back? I'm starting to get back into fitness. I enjoy working out. I sometimes skim through magazines like Self to get exercise tips but I find that most of the time the moves are focused on toning your abs, butt, and legs. Only once did I see an exercise focused on the back but it requires that you do it on this specific piece of gym equipment. I don't belong to a gym and I don't have one at home. I want to build muscle in and/ tone my upper back but my main problem area is my lower back. That's the area I'm interested in the most. Does anyone have any tried and true techniques they can offer/recommend? Note: I don't mind lifting weights
fitness advice, please??? I don't seem to be seeing any results and aren't really enjoying my workouts... And just wanted to see if anyone can assist... This is my usual fitness week: Tuesday 7-8pm: Mixed discipline marial arts (self defence with high CardioVascular workout) Friday 7-8:30pm: Gym 45mins CV and 45mins Weights and machines (Bike, x-trainer and rowing machine) Sunday 9-10:30am: Gym (as above) The rest of the week I do exercises at home (roughly about 15-30mins): pushups, abs work, free weights, etc (anything that doesn't need exercise equipment or can be done in the home environment)... And I just don't seem to be getting anywhere... No real weight loss or body shape change... Been doing the gym and home stuff for about a year and the martial arts only a couple of months...

question about fitness...? ok so i want to lose weight this summer. I need a a 30 minute workout each day...but i am not sure what i can do...i know that i can run---how long should I run?? i have to be able to do this workout at home and i don't have equipment...i just need something simple to do along with a healthy diet.
treadmill.............? Today I had my treadmill delivered to my home but I also work out at Ballys Total Fitness, the only problem is that im only able to work out at the gym 3 times during the week but i also already have lots out work out equipment at my house such as weights, an ab lounge machine and a treadmill of course. The only way for me to go to Ballys is having to wake up at 5:00 every morning and taking the El there and the gym usually takes 50 to 80 bucks out of my bank account every month. The treadmill I had sent to my house today is not advanced as the ones at Ballys but it comes in handy and more convenient. So whats your opinion should i continue working out at ballys or just use my home equipment
fitness Qs? How can i: 1) build up my leg muscles without going to the gym or using equipment preferably without exspense 2) tone my bum 3) tone my tum both also without exspense and equipment not found around the average home
Question about working out.? I use this exercise equipment http://www.fit-shop.com/fitness-exercise-equipment/gyms/tuffstuff-apollo-5-home-gym.asp . I am doing different exercizes, just a little bit of everything. I do about 6-7 curls, stop, do about 6-7 lat pull downs, stop, do 4-5 seated mid-rows, stop, do about 7-8 floor mid-rows, stop, then i do some of the arm cross over exercizes with the pully. I do all of these with the most amount of weight i can do and low reps because i want muscle. Now, I just did this exercize a few times yesterday and today I am not sore at all, should I work out again? If im not sore are my muscles still rebuilding?

pilates power gym good or bad? Hey, I go to the gym a lot but have recently grown bored with all my local gym has to offer. And the next few months I’m going to be really busy, which will make it difficult to commit to going to the gym for two hours. I want to purchase something for home that will have a lot of weight resistance, and be able to target most if not all of my body. This home gym seems to fall in my price range, and I like that I can still do all the moves I would of done at gym on it as well as addition pilates moves. The web site is here: http://www.thane.ca/products/fitness/pilatespowergym/pilatespowergym.php?gclid=CPPpudPYw4wCFRrnPgodsiUvbA Please check it out and tell me what you think? Of if you have used it if it worked for you? I really do want to get a good work out at home. If you have any other home equipment suggestions let me know.
Best full-body strenght workout regiment with no weights at all...? I'm back at home for a month and have no access to a gym and really don't have any fitness equipment. What's the best way to do an upper body strength workout (or as close as possible) without anything but your body. (I'm thinking something like pushups but for shoulders, back, and chest and all that)
timeworks fx or total gym? I'm thinking about purchasing either one of these at home fitness machines. I manage to loose weight from cardio work out sessions, now thinking about the whole total body work out routine. Which one of these machines are good for building muscle mass? http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/sports-equipment/timeworks-fx http://www.totalgymdirect.com/
Anyone got a few tips about general fitness and elasticity for a lazy 17 yr old :)? Hey everyone, I'm 17 but probably have the body of a 71 year ^^. Generally i'm quite lazy and although not obese, i am putting on weight. Anyway I decided i needed to get myself in gear before this became a bad habit. Therefore i'm going to get some sort of 'work out' timetable prepared and follow that. However just wondering if anyone had any tips. Such as, good exercises to do (intend to do this at home and don't have a workout station as such. However have all the little exercise equipment; weights etc). I want to focus a lot on builiding up strength around the body. Furthermore im terribly unelastic and was wondering if there are particular stretches i could do (maybe before exercise) to help that. I realize getting results will take a very long time; just if anyone has useful tips to get me started :) Will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. RRJ
Amateur Football team needs you? Hello. I am Chris, I am the manager of Midlothian AFC. We are based in Edinburgh. Scotland. Anyone within this area who wants to become involved with a football team give me a shout. We finished 5th in the league last year and got to the semi final of the league cup and semi final of other cup. I am looking for alot of players for next season as I lost some to other teams, this happens in amateur football all the time. So even if you low on fitness or low on confidence, I took alot of people last season who had never played football for years and turned them into a fighting bunch. I am looking for people to help train the team as well and I am also looking for an assistant manager. Now I have everything in place. Strips, home pitch, training equipment, Now I need players. You can contant me through here, or over our website. www.midlothianafc.co.uk Look forward to hearing from anyone over the age of 17. chrisskene18@yahoo.co.uk
Preparing for the summer season, already....Help? This summer; unlike the previous summers, I'd like to be ready for it. I'm already lean and trim, but even being "skinny" leaves me with what looks like a swollen stomach. I don't want to be limited in my bathing suit choices, and I'm quite self contentious. So can you recommend a diet, fitness plan, and a technique, which could shape me for the oncoming season? Please keep in mind, it has to be a simple at home workout,no fancy equipment recommendations please. On average, I take in about 1300 calories or so, and burn off typically 400 or more (usually AT LEAST 300). Thank-you.:)
Any workouts? I would like to find any easy home workout. I don't want to use equipment and that stuff, just normal fitness. I will give you 10 points for the best answer. Also if there is a website I would like that even more.
Exercise tips!! Help me out please.? My dad's military retirement is coming up soon and I want to look good in this dress I just bought. I would like to loose at least 15 pounds so I can slim down a few sizes and loose a little bit of my lumpy bumpy's. I don't really have any equipment and I'm on a tight budget for the next few months, so I can't go out and buy much of anything - nor can I afford to shell out for online diet and fitness programs provided by trainers online and around my community. The only exercise equipment that I DO have is a lateral thigh trainer (cross stepper), and blue resistance tubing. I'm slightly embarrassed and insecure to work out infront of others (except my husband), so can anyone come up with some GOOD exercises that I could do at home on the lateral trainer and without equipment to get rid of my flabby pooch I've gained over the past year all the while toning my abs, and also my arms and my inner thighs. [ please, no harsh words or immature responses ] Okay......I have no idea who Denise Austin is....but I'll definately have to look for the DVD's. Thanks! I live in a military commuinty (AF Wife right here) living overseas...and the only TV that we get is AFN. Sometimes they do show exercise programs, but they're always at 4 or 5 am. No luck there.
The Gym - Is it really worth it? I have joined a gym and have been working out continuously ofr about 2 months now. However, i'm sick and tired of going there...seeing as i can replace the equipment with stuff i already have at home (i.e. a bike to replace the exercycle, a step machine and walking/running to replace the treadmill and eliptical trainer and various resistance techniques such as weights, push ups etc to replace the weights at the gym)is it worth shelling out 30 pounds a month for the same amount of fitness i can achieve on my own, whilst also getting some fresh air?
I need advice on a strength training plan...? I do enough cardio (15 mpw running), but i am having trouble integrating strength training into my fitness plan... i don't have a lot of equipment (two 10 lb. dumbbels, two 2 lb. dumbbells) i want to know (preferably from someone with experience, but all answers are welcome) what i should be doing to have overall body tone, how often, how many reps. etc. i also have a YMCA gym membership, which i can use, but i don't want to go to the gym every day becasue it isn't very close to my house... so at home workouts are more desireable.. also, i am an 18 year old female. thanks!
What are the simple Circuit Training Routine ? I been given an assignment from fitness trainning instructors to do 10 simple circuit training routine at home everyday. I dont have any machine that i can use for fitness. What are some of the simple ones that does not required any equipment ?
Challenge for all exercise gurus!!? Ok...here is a challenge for fitness experts. HELP ME OUT!! I do not belong to a gym, nor do I have access to gym equipment, so all I can do is work out at home. I want to burn the fat from around my midsection and build muscle in my legs. What can you recommend that is within my parameters?? I can swing in my budget purchasing some hand weights or something, but I can't go to the gym! Please help me with your expertise!! :) Thanks in advance!
So I need to switch up my work out...? I have been focusing on weights at the gym and try to run when I get home from work but I never have the motivation then. I want to try and optimize my time at the gym so would like some help here. I go during my lunch hour at work (we have a fitness center at my work). I can squeeze in about 40 minutes of exercise. What is the best thing I can do in that 40 minutes to loose weight? We have all the standard gym equipment. Thanks!

Just poor eating and exercising and now im paying the price, lol. I have got tons of advice on eating and changing things that far. Im eating alot more veggies and fruit. Drinking alot more water.
