Workouts..? What are some of the main workouts that they have you do in Army Basic? Obviously pushups and running, but more specific; what kind of running and other exercises do you do excessively in Basic?
What is the best way to recover between workouts? Obviously getting enough rest is a factor, but I'v heard other theories on speeding recovery between workouts (not steroids). 1)I've heard that doing one or two light workouts in between your hard workouts using the same muscles that were taxed in the hard workout will help the muscles recover faster than if you just rested without doing light workouts on the days in between. For example, doing a hard workout using 85% of your one rep max on each lift, then a few days later doing a workout using 65% of your one rep max to aid in recovery. 2)I've also heard that just doing some aerobic exercise is effective in aiding recovery. For example going on long jogs or bike rides immediately after your workout and in the days following is supposed to aid in recovery. Besides my main question, these are my corellate-questions: Are either of those statements true? If so, is just jogging enough for me to recover between hard workouts or is another light resistance workout necessary? What I would like to do is: a low rep total body workout, then two days later a high rep lower body workout, then two days later a high rep upper body workout. Then I am not sure if I shoud start the cycle over. I am wondering if after doing the high rep workouts(with calisthenics), if I should do a light non-challenging resistance workout in between. I jog though. Is jogging enough to recover between workouts? I don't plan on doing back to back days of strength training. I always seperate them by at least one day, sometimes 2-3 days.

I'm a runner so the front (top) of my thighs are hugely muscular, and so are my calves, but I want something to tone the back under my butt and my butt too. Workouts....? Hey, I am a 15 year old male, and I want to lose body fat in the stomach region, and build muscle there and get my arms cut up. My arms are already solid, I just need to get them more defined. Also I have leg problems, and I need workouts for my legs and the stuff listed above. I have tendonitous (sp?) in my right knee, on both of my feet the bottoms of them are always so sore that I can't even walk. I don't know what is wrong with them but I came down hard on one of them in basketball....it sucks, because I have talent in basketball but I cant use it to the full potential.

Workouts?? hiya i've started my diet today of promax weight loss drinks, and they have worked for me really well last time ( I've put some of that weight back on) , but i never really exercised last time. I was wondering if anyone knew a workout which is best for weight loss. I'm aware it needs to be cardiovascular. But for how long? etc I have a cycling machine and live next to a field (park) so cycling and running is no problem if required in the workout?? Workouts??? I'm not toothpick thin, but I'm defiantly a far cry from fat. Unfortunately all of my weight is concentrated in my hips and thighs, everywhere else I'm slender. I take walks regularly, I try to eat healthy, I limit sweets to special occasions, I eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, and the recommended amount of meet and whole grains. I am not that interested in loosing weight as I am about loosing inches and firming up. Does anyone have any workout suggestions that targets the hips and thighs specifically? Thanks so much!! Legs Really Sore after Workouts? I've been lifting weights for about 12 months now, im used to the sore muscles the day after, and the day after that. But i push through it. Recently i switched workouts to a 5x5 strength training workout a friend recommended.(Workout A: 5x5 Squats, 5x5 Bench Press, 5x5 Bent over Rows, 3xFailure Dips, Workout B: 5x5 Squats, 5x5 Military Press, 1x5 Deadlifts, 3xF Pull ups). Alternating these every workout, working out Mon/Weds/Fri. I've been doing this for two weeks. I now hurt a lot more after the workout, doing the same weights as before, especially in my legs. After mondays workout bending my legs was ok, but uncomfortable, after wednesdays bending my legs to pick something up hurt, and now after yesterdays i can barely walk. Does this sound normal for this type of workout? I dont want to stop to recover as this will affect my gains. And the squat is apparently the most important exercise to do hence its done every workout.
Eliptical machine workouts. Which can help me lose weight the best? Well, I am very overweight but I have no problems running or using an eliptical machine but I don't know which workouts are best. FYI: it's a 10 resistance. I do my workout once a day. Workout 1 1 mile total (3000 steps) 1000 steps on resistance 1 (Running Pace) 1000 steps on resistance 5 (Jogging Pace) 1000 steps on resistance 10 (Walking Pace) Workout 2 (Resistance program) 30 minutes total start at resistance 2 and build 1 by 1 up to 10 and drop back to 2. Suggest right Workouts...? I have few questions on workouts... kindly help me.. 1) I have 15 inches biceps which i measured immediately after workout.. But my lower part of the biceps is pretty small.. But i feel that i have a good bulk in the upper part of the biceps. Resting between workouts? I have been on a workout plan over the past few months where I have worked a different body part monday through friday, and usually did cardio on the weekends. I was doing this with the perception that it would constantly keep my metabolism running and stop my body from lagging. Is this true? Or do I need to incorporate rest days in between those workouts? If so, how do I still get a significant workout for each body part? Do I have to stay at the gym longer during the workout days? Im afraid that I have hit another plateau and am not getting any stronger with my workouts and have frankly gotten bored with my workout.
Good Workouts? What are some good workouts I can do as a teen? (14 years old). There is a workout room I can go to in my neighborhood, but it is 5-10 min away and its kinda boring by myself, and my only friend that lives near can't go that much cause he has soccer mon/tues, something at church on wed, and friday he usually has soccer game, so thurs is usually his only day. So, are there any good workouts that I can do at home with no equipment? I do have weights(I guess you could call them dumbbells but they're like rubber) but i think they are like 1/2 pound, 1 pound, and 1 1/2 pound or something. They are all very light. Also, if you have any really good workouts for teens that I could do at the workout place in my neighborhood, list that and myabe I could use it sometimes. Thanks!
Need workouts like the 300 spartan workout..? Ive been doing the 300 workout a lot and I'm tired of it. Does anyone have some other workouts that are high intensity circuit workouts?
Creatine and multiple workouts daily.? I take 5g of creatine everyday in the morning to keep a store in my muscles. After workouts I take creatine and protein. Some days I split my workouts: M,W,F's I run 4.5 miles in intervals (13 minute run / 2 minute walk) at a 10 minute/mile pace in the morning. Then after my run I do deadlifts and abs. Later that day I do a full upper body workout (chest, delts, bi's tri's, weighted abs, rows, etc.). Question: Is it ok/healthy/beneficial, to take the creatine in the morning then after the first workout w/protein then after the second workout w/protein? How is this usually done? I'm figuring bodybuilders workout like 6 to 8 hours a day but not straight. They must break. How do they supplement? Bodybuilders and Nutritionists please. BTW I'm 39 yo. I do BJJ on T,Th's. I've been doing Martial Arts for 16 years and I'm usually fairly active. I just need help on the creatine usage. I know a good whey protein is fine practically whenever, but especially after a workout.
baseball workouts? ok i am 14 and i play baseball. i want some workouts that would help my pitching and batting. but i only got a pair of 2.5 pounds dumbbells. resistance bands,and the bicycle machine. i need to know on what day i need to do them how many reps and how many sets. i need workouts that i can do from mon-fri. i also need some workouts that let me lose weight. and tell me when the best time to do these workouts and how many times keep in mine i do have school.

Extremely short daily workouts? it is hard for me to do a full workout in a day so i have started to experiment and found that i can do short simply workouts every day with no problem for example Monday morning i do chest and then Monday nights i do abs Tuesday morning is legs and Tuesday night is arms, the workouts last about 8 to 10 minutes normally with me just doing two sets of a workout, obviously i am not looking to gain anything over night but was wondering if this is any way effective or if there was a way to make it more effective but still keeping it short and simple so i start and complete it, every time i try to plan a full workout it just never happens
good workouts for a 15 year old girl? so i have been dancing my whole life and during the summer i dont dance as much and i start to lose my cardio and start gaining pounds and i really dont want to do that again...i have a skinny but curvey shape and am proud of it but i hate the little fat i get in my lower butt area and the ''pooch''...i do ab workouts all the time and i am told that doesnt do anything for the pooch...i eat pretty healthy [lots of salads, eat fruitsand vegetables for almost every meal, lots of water, etc.] but im going to be extra healthy over the summer but what i want to know is what are good workouts i can do at home since im not dancing for a little while now? im not a great runner because i have asthma but i will if its going to give me results, i live in an apartment with very very little even walking space so its hard for me to do like video workouts and stuff so what do you suggest and is there any place i can go to workout at age 15 [im turning 16 in july] thanks for any suggestions!
Underweight Girl,What should my workouts consist of? Hello, I'm already asure I'm underweight.I'm 16 years old,5'5 and 99lbs. I know I am suppose to Eat more carbs burn less. My sister told me just to 'eat and eat' and once I've gained a certain amount,then workout. But,I want to eat healthy and do certain workouts.The main reason why I want to workout is because,I really want to workout certain areas including Legs,Glutes and Arms. Perhaps even abs but I don't want to workout the whole body and then lose even more weight. Workouts I need to do to improve my 800, mile, and maybe 2-mile? I'm a pretty experienced runner, I've ran 11.5 miles before, done ladders, done 400/800/mile repeats...but I don't seem to be able to get much better lately. We just got done with cross country and I'm trying to prepare myself for track next spring. My 3.1 pr was 19:02 this year(18:30 something last year) and right now I can probably run about a 5:10 mile. I need some workouts that will improve my 800, mile, and possibly 2 mile for track. Like what sort of workout should I do and what times should I aim for on the workouts? When track starts I want to be around a 4:45 mile pr and close to 2:00 flat on the 800.

is splitting workouts just as effective as longer workouts? I hear alot that exercising 30 minutes a day will help you lost weight. Well i plan on doing this and working out longer when i get used to it. But my question is......is breaking up my workout to 2 intense cardio workouts for 15 minutes each, once in the morning and once in the evening just as effective as doing a 30 minutes cardio workout?

Bicep Workouts..How can I continue to get bigger fast? Im 15, 5'7 150lbs. I workout, and all my body is fine except my biceps. On average I do: 3sets/10reps 30lbs EZ Bar curls 3sets/12reps 70lbs Cable Barbell Curl 3sets/15reps 90lbs (but since its cable its more like 50lbs) I want to get bigger biceps, and I'm thinking of adding 1-2 bicep exersies to my workout (hammer curls/barbell curls) what are some good workouts to add.

Ab workouts? A question about ab workouts. Everytime I go to the gym I do what in my opinion is a good ab workout as follows: 1) Hanging leg raises 10x 2) Hanging knee tucks 20x 3) Incline situps 20x 4) Crunches 40x 5) Side crunches 20x per side The problem, my abs are never sore after a workout. No, I do not have very strong abs yet. I am curious if I am not working them out hard enough and/or if I am doing something wrong. Any help?

My training buddy and I have added tire workouts to our regimen and after brainstorming and searching we've exhausted new ideas for workouts, anyone have any good suggestions for workouts using a 220 lb tire? Back workouts? I've been doing back workouts for awhile now, but I'm concerned I'm not doing them right. When I'm working out, I feel like my muscles get fatigued, but I don't feel a burn in my back. On some exercises, I'll feel a burn in my trapezius, but as for the rest of my back I don't usually experience it. When my muscles get fatigued, I have a hard time telling if it is my back or my biceps getting tired. The day after a workout, my arms will be fine and I'll feel all the soreness (though it's usually not that bad) in my back. How can I tell if I'm doing the workouts right? Should I feel a burn in my back, because I don't think I really do.

At Home Workouts? I'm looking for more things to add into my at home workouts. I know that variety helps and would like some more things to do. I'm not looking to bulk up but tone, build stamina, and explosiveness. I sometimes use light weights and resistance bands. Some of the current things I do are pivot punches, hill climbers, push ups, sit ups, mule kicks, cone jumps, etc. With the weights and bands I'm working on things like biceps, triceps, shoulders, and legs. I'm in decent athletic shape at 6' 1" 193 lbs and play softball and paintball. I would like to improve my quickness in both. Any fun workout tips/drills/exercises that I can do in my apartment would be greatly appreciated.
Feeling nauseous during workouts? Does feeling nauseous during workouts mean that you're pushing it to the limit? I train with weights, and almost during every workout, i'll feel nauseuos and like vomiting. I read up once on the 20-rep squat program, and it states that during the workouts, you'll feel nauseous because the effectiveness of the workout provokes nauseau. When I work out i'll feel very pumped, like my muscles are gonna explode. I've been weight training for years now, and I know i'm using proper technique and resting and eating enough, but this is the first time that i've ever felt nauseous. What could be making me feel this way?

30-minute workouts for women? I live near a women's gym that's similar to Curves and I know that in order to get fit, you need to challenge your body often. I heard circuit training is an effective workout because of the exercise variations, but in 30 minutes a day...? Is that really enough time to get results? It seems pretty low impact, which is what I need, but that's what concerns me. Is it enough of a workout? I once lost nearly 140 lbs and was 3 lbs away from my ideal weight of 150, but depression got the best of me and I gained back 40. I want to get back on track before I gain it all back. I miss the energy I had, as well as feeling strong, agile and most importantly healthy. I know the workouts aren't limited to just 30 mins, but since I'm starting over, I want to take it easy at first. How long does it take to not just see, but "feel" the results?

Workouts for toning lower body? I am 21, and have a pear shaped body (smaller at the top and wider at the bottom) i am a size 10, so dont want to lose any more weight. I want to be more toned but dont know how to do it!! Workouts Not Working - Need Help? Hello, I need help. My workouts do not seem to be working much. I've been at this for well over six months and have not lost any weight or clothing sizes -- depressing to say the least. What am i doing wrong Age: 40 Height: 5,2 Weight: 180 (yikes) Workout Plan 4-5 times per week at gym 15 min elliptical 35 min treadmill walk/jog (speed 3.5 - 4, incline 1-2) last 5 min cooldown 15 min weight machines (usually arms & abs) [If not gym, I do 1hr hike or bike ride for variety] Diet: Not stellar, but not horrible either. I have made a great effort to replace all junky snacks with fruit and low fat yogurt. I eat 3 meals, lots of veggies too and I never do fast food except for the occasional pizza. Years ago I would have dropped 20 just by exercising this much. Now, nothing. It just seems that short of starving or working out 3+ hours a day nothings working and I'm getting frustrated! Even doing Weight Watchers I only got down to 160 and that was having like 21 points per day + 3-4 activity points. At that point I was starving all the time (21 points does NOT go far) and I hit a wall and did not lose any more. Someone said I should workout harder -- whatever that means. According to the HR monitor on equipment I am in my cardio zone (something like 130-145)

What should I eat in between workouts? I workout in the morning at about 10, then I workout from 11:25 to 12 and then I have a break for 10 minutes then I workout lightly from 12:10 to 12:40. Is it ok to do cardios workouts during winter? I started working out 6 months ago, I'm 29 y/o, I was 217lb now I'm 194lb. For the past 6 or let's say 5 months I used to do cardios only, i.e running, bicycle, ellipse (I'm not sure if that's its real name), and stomach workouts. I started merging body building workouts with cardios now, and it's been 2 weeks and I'm doing cardios and body building. Some people are telling me that it's not healthy for the body to merge these 2 types of workouts, and other people are saying that it is important to do cardios for the first 45 minutes of the workout, then continue with body building workouts, because after this first 45 minutes the body will rely on fat as an energy resource, therefore it will expedite fat breakdown, now other people are telling me it's wrong to do cardios in winter, because your body will start breaking down muscles instead of fat! I'm confused now, so what's the best and healthiest approach? keeping in mind that my main concern is to breakdown fat as much as possible
arm workouts???? ok, i have been doing leg and ab workouts pretty effectively, but all i can do for arms is pushups, i am pretty strong in the arms, i so 50-100 of them a day, but i would like to do other stuff: i only have my bedroom, i have limited acces to the outdoors, i can only go into my back yard by myself, i can't go anywhere else outside w/o a sibling. i don't have any weights, i think i have 2 3lb weights, they're my mom's... so do u have any ideas of arm workouts with me, the ground, and 2 3lb weights??? plz help, much appretiated.

Leg Workouts??? wat im trying to figure out is are there any good leg workouts that will actually work? O.K i can catch about anything, and I'm alright at coverage 2nd string there playing for my highschool as a freshmen in the best division against some 300 lb+ linebackers and linemen. I'm 5'6"-5'7" and only 102lbs theirs my problem i barely get any after catch yards unless its a deep pass or nobody is near me and I need to be able to tackle better all i can do is hit the knees and they get 2 more yards with the lean. Any thought on how to help and i broke a finger a week ago going for a fumble so if i dont have to use it the better, but still will if good workout and only 1 week till healed. so PLZ good workouts and im trying to use protein drinks but my moms worried about kidneys so any help on that to convince here plz leave also thanks.

Wintertime workouts? I got a new pair of jeans, the same size as my others. These don't have as much stretch as the others do, and they're tight! I know I gained weight! Morning workouts Vs. Evening workouts? I have a busy schedule...3 kids, I leave my house at 7:15am to get to work at 8:00am, and I get home around 6:30pm and have to make dinner, ect. I usually get the kiddos in bed and then go work out from about 8:45pm-10pm. At that point I have so much energy that I could run a marathon. I hate getting up even earlier that my typical 6:00am, however I think that I might be doing better if I got up at 4:45am, went to the gym, and then came home. I would like opinions on morning vs. evening workouts, and also suggestions on how to make it easier to get up at sunrise. Thanks!!

Intense workouts for Army Ranger preperation?? What are some good workout plans that will help me gain muscle and strength? I'm not the most physical person. My pt scores are: 52 pushups in 2 mins 56 situps in 2 mins 9 pullups 1 mile run in 7:56 2 mile run in 13:19 I am VERY skinny (5'9" and 125 pounds), and i know that most people lose ALOT of weight at basic training, RIP, and Ranger School. 800 Meters Help? (Do Sprints or Distance Workouts in Practice)? I've been doing cross country and spring track for 3 years now (4 for X-C), and am in my first winter track season as a freshman. I do mainly jumping, but I also run the 800. Today we did time trials and I got a 2:45, with a 1:16 split. I know that the evenness is not great of my splits, but it's still in the beginning of the season. But because 800 is middle distance, it really feels like a sprint to me, not a distance run. 800ers normally practice with distance, but my dad, who is assistant coach of our team, said that he's had some great 800 runners do sprint workouts. Do you think I should talk to the head coach and start to do some of the sprint workouts, maybe like a distance workout 1 or 2 days a week, or do all sprints or all distance? Thanks in advance!

motivation for my hard workouts? hey guys! off season track just started and we are doing tough workouts like: 1 mile then 10 150s!! and i know it's my first day back and ive been sick so its perfectly normal to feel achey and tired. I'm a 20y/o male and I really need some more bicep workouts: I currently know of the following and rotate throught them, doing two repeatedly every other day, changing weight as well. 1. standing dumbbell (changing shoulder angle as well) 2. concentration curls 3. hammer curls 4. preacher curls 5. cable curls 6. bicep machine (i don't use this often) 7. standing easy bar curls (changing grip widths) In addition I never work my tricepts, is this holding my biceps back?? thanks a lot for your help!! ok... damn I lift chest shoulders abs and back as well, not just biceps I also run 25mi./wk so I consider myself well rounded.
Keeping your workouts under an hour...? I've read you should keep your workouts to under an hour otherwise you're going to start losing muscle. My question though is does cardio count toward that? Honestly I would assume so. Because I do upper body weights on Tuesday and Friday, and it takes about an hour, so I probably shouldn't add cardio onto that? I do lower body weights/abs on Monday and Thursday and that takes maybe half an hour/forty minutes and then I usually do a bit of cardio after that, as well as on Wednesday (usually take Saturday/Sunday off). Tips or workouts for track? Well, I plan to do track this spring (it is currently the end of november) and are wanting to step up my training. I do 4 sets of 24 walking lunges 4 sets of 12 squats 4 sets of 12 standing lunges and 4 sets of 12 things which i tip toe with eachfoot then i do 15 with both feet in the same time(for the calf) (I dont really know what its called) I only can really do it 1 time a week which is saturday morning... because everyday i have personal fitness in school and they make us do similar workouts so id be too sore to do them.
Foul gas after only after workouts/exercises? For the past couple of months, on and off, I have been doing weight lifting exercises and I discover that after my workout, as well as the next day, i will release lots of foul gas, say once every 15-20 minutes and the smell is worse than normal. When I stop exercising, the gas disappears. I'm a pretty healthy dude. I eat properly before and after my workouts. The foods I eat before or after I workout, aren't ridiulcously high in fiber or glucose, so I don't think it's from the food? Is it too much stress that I'm putting on my body? I dunno. I see much more stressful workouts from others at the gym. Anybody experience this?

I have mostly intermediate level kickboxing workouts, including Tae bo, Amy Bento's Kickbox Extreme, and Criss Cross Cardio from CIA ( the advanced workouts online) I have one 10 minute solutions Kickbox workout as well. I am looking for something that has A LOT of kicking. Sweating during workouts...? How much is too much sweating? When I work out (it's a normal workout, not that tough), I sweat a lot. I usually work out about an hour and fifteen minutes, and by the end, my shirt is nearly soaked and my face is dripping with sweat. In football in high school, I was on the kickoff team - five minutes after I got off the field, kids were still asking if I just got out (of the game). The FIRM workouts- what do you do if you don't see results in 10 workouts?? I have done WAY more than 10 workouts and I haven't seen any results. So, what now? Anyone else had this problem? I am doing what they say. 3-4 workouts per week and the low calorie diet they included in the package.
I need a set of running workouts that meet my criteria below.? This is for long distance cross country running... First, i have about 30-50 minutes to do this workout...shorter workouts are best schedule-wise. I cant hit hills so forget those. I have 1 month. I need it as effective as possible, and its for endurance not speed. I need a really good base before my fall season begins. I'm in decent shape. I run 5 miles in 40 minutes currently. In terms of just a workout I don't want to go much faster than that. But 2 miles i'll do in 14 minutesish and 1 mile in 6 mi
